I originally posted this to the 'cnd' forum but this didn't generate any discussion/response so I'm entering this here as a 'cnd' bug. Please see:
http://forums.netbeans.org/topic62474.html for the forum thread. 

The issue is essentially that 'dot' (e.g., ".src") directories are not being properly displayed in some file dialogs. In this case the "Build Result" file dialog accessed from the C++ project properties "Build/Make" category.

Verified in NetBeans 8.1 with latest internal patches
