The bug was fixed for C++ main and class wizards.
See issue #248423
and issue #245557

New Makefile wizard also contains Source folder chooser that works only with local filesystem. Probably the wizard itself should be rewritten or even removed.

You are right, This wizard does not work in full remote. And probably even in remote at all. 

What makes me wonder about this wizard is that no user ever complained or asked a question concerning it. Which makes me think it is not used. Which probably means that nobody really needs it.

Probably we have to switch it off at least for remote.
