This bug was originally marked as duplicate of bug 235536, that is already resolved. This bug is still valid, so this seems to be another bug, but it might be related.

Build: NetBeans IDE 8.0 (Build 201403101706)
VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM, 24.55-b03, Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment, 1.7.0_55-b13
OS: Windows 7

GUEST: Before this I manage to open and create a project. However, now I am unable to do both of those things.

I'm sorry, I cannot reproduce this bug.
Did you import settings from an older NetBeans version?
Can you please try running NetBeans with fresh userdir [1]?

I'm closing this bug for now. Please reopen if using fresh userdir doesn't help.
