I suggest to use a slightly darker red for error highlighting, with the current "RED" setting the highlighted area is very hard to read.

Would be great if you could include it in NB 8.0 patch 1: Small, low risk change with improved experience for new Netbeans users.

This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue.
