Context: ubuntu 13.10
Java version java 8 64 bit, see:
$ /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle/bin/java -version
java version "1.8.0-ea"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0-ea-b120)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.0-b62, mixed mode)

If I start the installer it says on the 3rd wizard dialog
that I have a 32 bit jdk.

(I start with oracle java 7 in the path, 2nd version query above)

command issued:

 bash ~/Downloads/netbeans-trunk-nightly-201312180002-linux.sh
