Matthias, please attach a screen shot showing the patch in action, thanks.

Btw, what is the reason for a special icon? The patch applies the icon to regular Nimbus l&f as well...

The screenshot attached shows the old and new display. The first suffers from the problem, that the default drop-down icon in the datepicker is taken from the "Tree.expandedIcon" property. In the nimbus case the white space around the icon is asymmetric. This is the case for the dark and non-dark case.
