User Comments:
GUEST: canceling scanning projects task

antonfischer: I have pc with 1.3 CPU and 1.5 RAM. It's sucks..

jjwdesign: Scanning seems to be stuck.

GUEST: Fuck you with such a nasty IDE. Cannot stop this fucking project scanning !!! Fuck you!!!

GUEST: deleting file, execs full projetS list scan??? WTF? it take ages!!!!!

GUEST: just committed files in SVN, no need to rescan projects, wanted to get an updated versioning view but waiting for Scanning... instead

GUEST: Netbeans use 50% CPU when scanning projects.

GUEST: typing code with 6 pages open

GUEST: When starting or open a project. The task scan project take so long time.

GUEST: When "Scanning projects" is running everything else is very slow or not responsive at all, The Navigator for instance won't load and just sits there displaying "Please Wait" when trying to goto a function delcaration the IDE just hangs. The scanning projects task seems to be very obtrusive and has a direct impact on the entire the interface.

As soon as the scanning completes everything wakes up again and responds quickly.

GUEST: scanning project take more time..

GUEST: adafdafdaf

GUEST: The scanning never stops, every change I make in a file starts a scan.

GUEST: slow

GUEST: slowed down system... bad for development

GUEST: scanning project is not stoppable since begining of Netbeans 6.9 (Where I use netbeans), why offer a possibility to let it stop if it's not possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GUEST: Scanning project didn't finished after 5 hours. The project contains 15k+ files AND folders...

GUEST: editing a file, trying to auto format code, but analysing project was running for ever. Tried to stop Analysing Project with no luck.

GUEST: deleted a file

GUEST: just want to run a test

GUEST: netbeans seems to stall frequently.
Two incidents yesterday: one it occupied an entire cpu for 10 mins (until I killed it) - not apparent what it thought it was doing.
The other it was just idle & unresponsive - as if it were waiting for the network or something.
This morning I'm trying to switch, and it complained that a folder was locked - I tried cleanup as advised, but it took several minutes.

GUEST: just coding PHP, no outside file changes made

nleck: The delete is taking ages. It looks to me for each file that is being removed the scan is being kicked off.

I killed NB in the end and just deleted the directory from the command line.

GUEST: I was trying to svn up but the damned "Scanning projects" kept my "svn update" in queue for so long (meaning I couldn't work) that I tried to stop it

GUEST: I have just added a new file and scan is running all the time !

It's long even if there is nothing in the new file and every other operation I try to do meanwhile display the too long operation popup....

GUEST: sfasdfsdf

GUEST: ????? ???????? ????? ???????? ????????, ??????????? "????????????? ????????" ???????? ???????, ?????? ??? ??????????, ?????? ???? ??????????? ????????? ?????? ?????

GUEST: I try stop scanning projects

GUEST: svn + check project same time

GUEST: Please provide detail of how to stop scanning project. It is really making development painful./... I am thinking abt moving to other tool now

GUEST: Scanning projects runs to often and effects performance of whole IDE, when it runs doing even the most basic tasks takes a lot longer than usual and code completion doesn't work at all.

GUEST: scanning projects forever

GUEST: STOP THE FUCKING SCANNING PROJECT PLEASE.

GUEST: This takes way too fucking long. Figure it the fuck out already.

GUEST: context menu on a directory >delete
netbeans hangs in a loop of scanning projects

GUEST: I was just trying to svn update my project but it spent like 10 minutes "Scanning project". So I tried to stop it !

GUEST: toda hora

GUEST: Well I had netbeans scanning a lot for a very long time change 1 small file and it checks all files. I have 3 projects open 1 of them is small maybe 10-20 java files. Other 2 are prolly around 3-400 total + a lot of htm files and some xml. Project is about 100mb or so

titosanxez: Netbeans open displaying files in a location that is shared with a VM that is modifying other files at the same time

GUEST: It's impossible to work! It is very-very big problem with scanning projects. I need to find another editor because it's a terrible waste of my time

GUEST: since using 7.1.1 scanning sometimes seems to run forever

GUEST: The "Scanning project" process is so much slow...infinitely...Netbeans is locked and I have to kill it.
My computer is: Intel i3 3.20 GHz, RAM 4 GB, 64 bit Windows 7.

Tks

GUEST: slow

GUEST: moved a directory from inside one to another

GUEST: nothing. netbeans fails wenn there's a .xls file within any projects (!)

GUEST: Deleting a file

GUEST: I copy directory

GUEST: Never endeing "Scanning projects..." when i added a pack of new files to a project.

GUEST: I copied file (in 'tab' Projects right mouse click + copy, right mouse click + paste), after that netbeans started 'scanning projects' but didn't finish it. I had to restart it.

GUEST: Scanning projects very slow and blocks all other usage and tasks

jmborer: Runs after an SVN update. Now it starts scanning all projects an the IDE becomes very slow because a buid is running in parralell.

GUEST: ???? ???????, ?? ???????? ????????

pwasson: I am editing Entity classes (using JPA annotations). I have about 6 projects open. "Scanning Projects" happens frequently, uses 100% of one CPU core, and makes the IDE unusably unresponsive until it finishes.

GUEST: wanted to skip the scanning projects progress. it sucks!

GUEST: Problem git submit....

stephenliberty: Large project on network drive. Will not stop scanning and is causing the ide to freeze up sporadically.

GUEST: Deleting a folder with subfolders.

GUEST: I have one project open, not that large. I should be able to cancel scanning at any time in the process.

GUEST: Using NB has been like swimming through molasses recently. Normal everyday usage writing Java code and designing Swing components. "Scanning projects" goes on forever, but doesn't really seem to be the cause of the problem.

GUEST: only delete a folder which was not under git controll but marked as added

According to stack trace the scan is started by the VCS support forcing recalculation of the affected files + dependencies:

org.netbeans.modules.versioning.indexingbridge.Bridge$1.call(Bridge.java:63)

It runs in background in NB 7.2.
The scope of recalculated files can be managed for Java in Tools/Options/Editor/Hints/Dependency Scanning. For other languages I am not aware of such a feature.
