Sometimes when I click ctrl-h to do a search and replace, and click the 'replace all' option, it only operates on the selected text in the editor, sometimes no matter what is selected it operates on the entire file.

When you select a part of text (multiplelines) then search and replace (also replace all) works just in that highlighted area.

Probably it needs just better visualization as suggested in #207532
