The ... popup is implemented as JList inside JPopupMenu. Why not through JMenuItems ? The actions could have been presented as action buttons or icons with enable/disable based on the selected line.

This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue.
