Product Version = NetBeans IDE 7.1 (Build 201112071828)
Operating System = Mac OS X version 10.7.3 running on x86_64
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.6.0_31
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 20.6-b01-413

Whenever I create a new file, the new file window hangs and I get a spinner for about 4 minutes. Then the empty PHP file is created. It happens EVERY time on my system. I am not sure if the PHP project size matters, but my project is about 70MB, all php/html/js/css files.

I have attached a profile of the IDE while creating a new file.

This is already fixed in NB 7.2 (thanks to background scanning).
