Console output and Session log file

Hello.

This is the netbeans_v07.01_rc1 installed on Windows 7, AMD 64-bit.

None of the screens or dialogues that need to connect with the internet can connect and finish with a time-out. Examples include:

  - Check for updates
  - Start page
  - Plugins load
  - Bugzilla connection
  - etc.

While clicking on something like: "latest news" opens Firefox a-OK. So we know the internet is connected and the URL-s are appropriate.

As well, watching the network access on the TaskMgr screen and in the firewall monitor, no attempt has been made by netbeans to open a TCP/IP socket or connection that I can see.

In contrast the netbeans 7.1 beta worked fine in this area; with the same JDK and JRE, firewall and virus checkers running. To me that narrows the issue down to something in the configuration or this RC1 release.

Hope the attachments help show the problem.

w.

Do you use proxy ? If so is it setup correctly in NetBeans ?

As far as I know there were no changes in this area after NetBeans 7.1 Beta. NetBeans IDE detected you have no proxy in your network. Is it true? Please, compare network proxy settings in IDE|Tools|Options in NB7.1Beta and NB7.1RC. Is it the same? Thank you

The question was asked about a proxy.

-- There is NO proxy in use.
-- This was the same setting as with the 7.1 beta

This is a relatively new system, September 2011. The only difference between the working 7.1 beta and the installed 7.1 rc1 is the change netbeans version. No settings changed.

Perhaps it will be instructive or diagnostic to review the error messages in the attached log file. Which include settings like proxy settings, etc.

I'm sorry for late response. We are finishing NB7.2Beta now. We got no similar reports about inability to connect Update Centers (or other network servers) in NB7.1. Could you try it again with NB7.2Beta which will be available soon or any recent NetBeans Dev builds [*] and let me know? If it still doesn't work for you then my only guess to run IDE with a switch -J-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true. Thanks
