Right click an XML file and you will see the following options in NetBeans:
   -- Check XML
   -- Validate XML

For the novice, these appear to be the same.

Consider replacing "Check XML" with something more meaningful such as "Check Well-Formedness" as is done by Altova XMLSpy.

In Help | Help Contents, "Checking an XML Document for Well-Formedness" also makes reference to...

Check XML
Check CSS
Check DTD

I wonder if this is better as-is or if my suggestion is more meaningful to a point.
