I use the Dvorak - Qwerty keyboard layout option in OS 10.6.
This should set all regular typing to dvorak, but keep all shortcuts identical to qwerty (anytime a modifier key is pressed, the layout reverts to qwerty).
However, the shortcuts act as if I'm still in dvorak mode.
For example, to save I should be able to push 'Command S' (relative to a qwerty layout), but instead I have to push 'Command ;' (';' is where the 's' is in the dvorak layout).

Hmm, could you please try the same in some other swing app? I guess the problem is somewhere between your OS and JDK. Netbeans knows nothing about keyboard layout, it simply receives key-pressed events and performs an action associated to the event. Thanks

I have exactly the same problem. I am working on OSX with dvorak keyboard layout. All shortcuts starting with ctrl acts like on qwerty layout. For example pressing ctrl + c on dvorak do the same thing like pressing ctrl + i on qwerty.

You can debug this issue by setting your operating system keyboard layout to dvorak and than in netbeans Keymap settings try to change shortcut to any action, new shortcut have to begin with ctrl key.

Report from old NetBeans version. Due to code changes since it was reported likely to not happen. Feel free to reopen if happens in 8.0.2 or 8.1.
