Same here with NB 6.7 and PortalPack 3.0.2
I just noticed that when I select a "regular" Tomcat 6.0 as the "runtime" this does not happen. When I select a Liferay Portal Server as the runtime, I either get this exception (when using New -> Hook Plugin) or a dialog where I cannot select the hook type (when using New -> Other -> HookPlugin)
This is the env I am running on Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.5 (Build 200811100001) Java: 1.6.0_11; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 11.0-b16 System: Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86; Cp1252; en_US (nb) Portalpack 3.0.2_all Target run time LiferayPortal 5.1.x/5.2.x DD diabled I am not able to reproduce this issue in my setup I can create a plain web project like Test-hook->rightclick->New->HookPlugin and everything goes fine..
