Description jarome 2009-07-02 18:59:07 UTC
I see very strange fonts in the installer. It looks like double images of everything. The Microsoft installers look correct.

What fiont are you using that I might be missing?

See attached pic.

Never seen such an issue.. please attach the installation log from %USERPROFILE%\.nbi\log directory.

Do you have the latest JDK version installed? If not try to upgrade to JDK6u14 and run installer on this JDK with "--
javahome <path-to-jdk>" arguments.

Do you have latest video drivers? if not try to upgrade them to the latest version.

Yes, I have the latest .14 JDK, and the only video drivers I can use, the Parallels virtual ones. But only Sun
installers do this. Microsoft installers look just fine.

The attached install logs does not contain the main log - 20090702190507.log
Could you please attach it as well?

Does other Java applications work fine on this system?
To check that you could try to run demos included in the JDK, e.g.
"C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_14\bin\java.exe" -jar "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_14\demo\jfc
\SwingSet2\SwingSet2.jar"

(try to play with the menu, e.g. change the Look and Feel to different values).

Swingset2 works perfectly, as do my programs and NetBeans. It is only the installer that has the bad fonts.
Comment 8 dlipin 2009-07-23 11:34:34 UTC
Have you installed Windows 7 as the guest OS, right? Have you installed or updated any addtional drivers (e.g. Direct
X) after the installation?
What is your host OS? And which Parallels product (Desktop/Workstation/...) do you use?

Are the fonts still bad if you run installer using Metal L&F?
netbeans-6.7-ml-windows.exe --look-and-feel Metal

I am running inside of parallels Desktop 4.0 in Mac OS X 10.5 (latest), on a Mac Pro with8 GB memory and 8 CPUs. As you
can see, the installer with metal still screws up.

I did not install and new video drivers, and this was an essentially clean install of Windows7, applying all updates,
and then installing netbeans.

Thanks for the info. And for the screenshot.
BTW, do you run RC or Beta of Windows 7? or just prepared RTM (final build, not officially available yet) ? :) or
something else? :)
Comment 12 jarome 2009-07-23 22:39:07 UTC
I am on the RC. But I saw this same problem on XP Pro running in Parallels
