Description lallafa 2009-06-28 19:19:34 UTC
Renaming a JSP fails if the new name contains "[..]". Message "object cannot be renamed from index to index[alt]"

How to reproduce: create a new Java Web Application. Rename the index.jsp to index[alt].jsp

Same happens for renaming a JSP to a filename that contains '-'
Comment 2 mehdi.oudjida 2010-01-14 08:45:02 UTC
It doesn't work for me too. On Mac OS X, version 6.8 and 6.7.1
I'v got also the problem with "_" character

I understand the frustration with this problem but it is not P1 problem - it is not crashing your IDE nor corrupting your data and you can workaround it by renaming file outside of IDE.

I've experienced something similar on Windows.

Yes,It seems to be a general problem. Following the status of the bug, it is not corrected on 6.9 version.
I use SVN for the versionning, and the workaround is not very nice. For the moment we try to not rename JSP. Netbeans is better than Eclipse for the moment...I hope it will not take the same way than Eclipse or Firefox these last years.

Works for me just fine using latest daily build [1]. I guess it was fixed during the development in some other product/component area. Closing the ticket
