This has happened on Solaris sparc (sqa42) in build 200905180201

Steps to reproduce:
- add paths to GNU (/usr/sfw/bin) and SS (/shared/dp/branches/ceres/buildarea/build42.0/inst/sparc-S2/bin) to PATH
environment variable
- run NB with a fresh userdir
- open Tools->Options->C/C++
Result: Tool collection is empty.

The same situation with Mac. GNU compiler collection was not found in /usr/bin
