Description ulfzibis 2009-04-04 18:01:58 UTC
[ BUILD # : 6.7 M3 ]
[ JDK VERSION : 1.6.* ]

I moved a link in Favorites window, and eronerously dropped it down
inside existing link.
Now I can't remove it to desired "top" position.

Favorites link not re-movable
Comment 2 ulfzibis 2009-04-04 18:16:31 UTC
Also I can not move position inside it's 'parent'-link.
Comment 3 Jiri Skrivanek 2009-04-06 14:42:23 UTC
I don't quite understand your description. Could please describe what you did step by step? Thank you.

No response from reporter.
Comment 5 ulfzibis 2009-04-15 11:14:06 UTC
I don't understand, why my attached JPEG isn't descriptive enough, but you're right, I'm in delay for an answer.

Refer to attachment:
- marked link 'solaris_classes 1.6_03' was first in most-left node column.
- I dragged it by mouse to move it to another position.
- accidentally I released mouse button at wrong position, so it dropped down inside existing link 'share_classes 1.7b51'
- after that, it isn't possible to re-move it to desired position outside 'share_classes 1.7b51', nor inside this link.
(it always jumps back on trying this)
Comment 6 Jiri Skrivanek 2009-04-15 12:29:05 UTC
I see now. It is not possible to drag&drop anything into Favorites root. That's why you cannot drop mistakenly moved
link. But inside other favorites link (your 'share_classes 1.7b51'), I am able to move it freely. Correct procedure
after your mistake is to call 'Add To Favorites' on 'solaris_classes 1.6_03' node and then 'Delete' on this node.
Comment 7 ulfzibis 2009-04-15 12:47:10 UTC
I don't agree.
When there is a grey line, designating the potential drop position, outside other favourites link, it should work!
Same argument has been on Issue 108958.
Dragging should work (better) or should be disabled (change mouse pointer to invalid outside other favourites link)!

> Correct procedure after your mistake is to call 'Add To Favorites' on 'solaris_classes 1.6_03' node and then 'Delete'
on this node.

... sounds like: In case of error (dropping text block accidentally at wrong position or even a typo) in your document,
type in a new one, and delete the old. :-(

Ok, 1:0 for you, but it remains confusing grey line.

Please appreciate my last argument!
At least change it to RFE, in contrast to "invalid" it.
Comment 11 Jiri Skrivanek 2009-04-15 13:48:45 UTC
Yes, it would be better if you can move link back to root, but so far dropping to the favorites root is not enabled as I
wrote.

Drag&drop into Favorites view works now after fix of issue #139713 and thus it is also possible to drag&drop mistakenly
dropped file into root position (more precisely drop into empty area of the view) and create a link. But this probably
doesn't do what you want - mistaken drop into existing folder actually copied dragged file into the folder on disk
(favorites view is just a file view with a bunch of arbitrary added roots after all) and dragging this copy into root
area creates link to the wrong copy.
