I am not sure if this happens with other style options, but it is consistently happening with the mark-occurrences style.

Steps to reproduce:
Download python module for netbeans from module selection dialogue.
Download extra themes from plugin module selection dialogue.
Choose "Ruby Dark Pastels" as style profile (Tools->Options).
Duplicate profile, rename to "Ruby Dark Pastels - 2"
Customize mark-occurrences background style of Python language. 
Click 'OK'
Test style on code (it works).
Close Netbeans, re-open Netbeans.
Error manifestation: Style reverted back to previous setting.

Note:
Full user read/write permissions given to directory. 
Other styles save on change and reload of IDE.
