Microsoft implemented this feature in the Internet Explorer 8 Beta: All related tabs have the same, randomly chosen background color. Suggestion howto implement in Netbeans: All tabs of files of the same project have the same background color. Just the tab itself is colored, not the related editor window. The entry in the project list could have the same color. If only files of one project are opened, no coloring is necessary. I think, this could implemented quite easy into netbeans, but to users like me, who have to juggle many projects at the same time, this could be very helpful. Especially if you have files with the same name in the different projects, it gets complicated. Currently it's quite hard to realize, to which project an opened editor tab belongs. There is just a tool tip with the path of the file available. So even if you know about the tool tip, you have to read the whole path and realize the project from that.
Reassigning to editor for evaluation.

As this request is years ago, but still a wanted feature (specially by me :) can we await the implementation?

BRILLIANT! I really appreciate your work and that you listen to the users!
This was not added to the Netbeans 7.3 final? If yes, how to use it? Also this status is still in "new".
