I18N - UI label and template code use the same message 6.1 also has the same problem. uml.codegen/src/org/netbeans/modules/uml/codegen/ui/Bundle.properties VAL_ElementType_Class=Class (just for example, other messages also have the same issue) This message is used in two places (at least). 1. Tools > Options > UML Templates tab, select Basic Class for Domain Templates. "Class" in Element Type list comes from this message. 2. When you add a template for Class, ${USERDIR}/.uml/config/TemplateFamilies.etc is updated. The following "Class" comes from this message. <modelElement>Class</modelElement> As UI label, the message should be localized. The term itself ("Class" for this example) are widely localized throughout the NetBeans IDE. But if it is localized in TemplateFamilies.etc, code generation fails.
This might not be an issue, since in uml functionality, certain words in certain usages of them are not meant to be translated, and at least in past, the word Class was viewed as a uml keyword and not meant to be tranlated, since it could confuse users who were used to having it in english as keyword; it would be like not translating the programming words "for" or "class" developers can clarify if this applies to this situation. also, in options, uml. templates there are some known and open issues on some labels or msgs not coming from bundle files. ken.frank@sun.com
Thank you for your comment, and I think you are misinformed. Class, Interface, Enumeration, and etc. in UML context are really localizable, and are almost always localized. (talking about user visible area, not internal representation) You can find localized terminology database here: http://www.umtp-japan.org/modules/d3downloads/index.php?page=visit&cid=1&lid=1 All terms are well localized. This site also provides terminology database for ko and zh. You can also take a look at UML topic on ja.wikipedia.org http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/統一モデリング言語 "統一モデリング言語" means "Unified Modeling Language", UML. Here, you can not find the term "Class Diagram", which is described as "クラス図". I have several books on UML, and all use localized terminology. > and at least in past, the word Class was viewed as a uml keyword > and not meant to be tranlated, since it could confuse users who > were used to having it in english as keyword; As I wrote above, you are misinformed. Most UML users here use localized terminology. They do not recognize the word "Class" as a keyword. Thanks
