1. Connect to some DB. 2. Rightclick some of it's tables and choose "View Data". 3. Select some record in "data view" window. Result: Record is selected (it is OK), but clicked cell became editable (it is not OK). It is inconvenient. On the rest platforms one click on the record just select this record. This issue reproducible only on Mac OS X.
At any rate this is a P4, not a P3. It is a small usability issue.
I this was the requested feature. Intially we had the same way as other OS, but you wanted it to be this way. I can't remember which issue it was, but this was based on David's request I guess.
If I remember correctly, my issue (if you are talking about it) was about have ellipsis button visible on Mac OS X after one click as on the rest platforms, but in this issue I'm talking about editable cell after one click. On other platform behavior isn't the same, cell becomes editable after double click. Note, that I'm not talking about ellipsis button. So good behavior is: - Click cell: ellipsis button becomes visible, row is selected, cell isn't editable. - Double click cell: ellipsis button becomes visible, row is selected, cell is editable.
Yes, I requested this. I didn't know the behavior was different depending on the OS. I have my own preference - why use two clicks to be able to edit a cell, why isn't one click sufficient? But I can see Roman's point, sometimes you want to be able to select the cell (e.g. to remove it), and it's annoying that it makes the cell editable instead. I think it would be good to be consistent. So if every other platform behaves as Roman describes it, maybe we should do that for the Mac too. If you are unable to come up with a consensus on this, please ask Mike Radosti to help out.
We will fix this as explained by Roman.
