Could an antivirus program be blocking the port or executable? Can you ping 1527?

Temporarily, try disconnecting from the network, disabling the firewall (sorry I meant firewall, not antivirus) and trying to connect to Java DB again From the stack trace it's a network issue.
FWIW, I installed the 1016 build on Windows XP and could connect to the sample databases
disabled network connections but still the problem exist i have attached a threaddump taken after disabling the network connection and trying to connect which freezed the ide for some seconds. have a look.

I can't reproduce this issue, so therefore I remove "65fixes1-candidate" status whiteboard, since this issue isn't permanent reproducible for a lot of people. rajivderas, can You update this issue with fresh information. Are You still able to reproduce this issue?
No it is working fine with NetBeans IDE 6.5 RC1 (Build 200810171318)
According to reporter this issue is fixed.
Verified by NetCAT participant with RC1.
