Per issue 146393, this issue is opened to track the following.

There should be either no 'Select in Model' or this menu item should be disabled for element or object that does not
show up in project tree. These elements include but not limited to the following.

Use Case Diagram: Extension Points Use Case element
State Diagram: Events and Transitions from Simple and SubMachine State elements
