Netbean 6.5 allows user to register local domain for Glassfish V2 but not for Glassfish V3.

actually we support local domain registration already...

On the domain selection page of the registration wizard... enter the path to an existing domain...

there isn't any kind of message to clue the user in on this capability, though....
