Description Troy Giunipero 2008-09-01 14:26:00 UTC
Not sure if 'code' is the right subcomponent to file this issue under.

When installing from the beta release installer:

   * If PHP pack is installed, and user tries to install the Web and Java EE pack, the PHP pack is removed.
   * If Web and Java EE pack is installed, and user tries to install the PHP pack, the Web and Java EE pack is removed.

Granted, this is not a common use case, but one installation should probably not be overwritten by another.

Sorry to say that but it is how it worked from the very beginning.
You need both WEB/EE and PHP use full ("All") installer and install all things at the same time.

Another option is to install what you need from update center.

For example: install Web and Java EE from instaler, then install PHP from update center.

Thank you, yes I'm aware of that option however that's not really fool-proof: For example, when installing the PHP
plugin, I realized I wasn't getting all modules that are included in the PHP installation - the editor wasn't providing
PHP support so I returned to the Plugin Manager and installed SaaS Services Code Generation. This was quite random - I
only found the plugin by searching for 'PHP'. My point is that, using the Plugin Manager, there doesn't seem to be way
to be sure you've got all the dependencies you need for a given functionality.

I will buy that 153495 is a duplicate of this if the underlying cause is the same, but as a reminder please note that my
issue was with the initial install experience, not with the plugin manager. On a Mac (at least), it appears that it is
not possible to install both a standard NB 6.5 installation (no matter what the configuration is), *and* the Python
early access environment.
