Ok, it is not the Projects, it is the Files view. Actually I could see this with all recent daily builds.

JDK is 1.6 update 10, build 28.

Milan is on vacation, badges come from VCS. Could you please evaluate if this is bug in projects or in VCS support?

well, it is easily reproducible for me in Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200808120201)
Java: 1.5.0_15; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.5.0_15-b04
System: Linux version 2.6.24-19-generic running on i386; UTF-8; en_US (nb)
Userdir: /tmp/ud

just opened versioned javaapp, switched to files view and root node has two badges.
