I've got a killer idea on how to save space in MDI mode.. Right now when a user wants to resize an "attached MDI frame" he has to move the mouse over the frame border and drag the window to its new size. The current border is 3-5 pixels wide which is a waste of space plus it doesn't look very nice either. What I propose is that you eliminate the border-draging method in favour of a titlebar-draging method. Basically users will be able to drag the title-bar (that horizontal bar on top of all frames which holds the name of the window) up/down to grow/shrink the window size.. For backward-compatiblity you could keep the border but minimize it to a size of 1 pixel so when the user brings his mouse over the end of the titlebar his mouse changes to the "resize" icon and he can still resize like he did before. One of the major issues against MDI mode is lack of space. I think this is an important step in solving that problem, one pixel at a time ;)

Reassigning to Jiri for evaluation. Jiri, please check for duplications, think about what these enhancements will need to be implemented right and write down your observations and thoughts to the enhs themselves.
We plan to remove border around maximized frame in MDI.
Target milestone was changed from '3.4' to TBD.
I guess this problem (taking as much space as possible) is solved by maximized desktop area. Closing as worksforme. Reopen if I missed something.
Resolved for 3.4.x or earlier, no new info since then -> verified.
