Description tonybeckham 2008-07-25 18:52:48 UTC
There are conditions that the navigator window will be stuck with message "Please Wait..."

System:
Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200807240010)
Java: 1.6.0_05; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 1.6.0_05-b13-52
System: Mac OS X version 10.5.4 running on x86_64; MacRoman; en_US (nb)

Steps:
1. Create a new PHP project
2. Have the Navigator window closed.
3. Open the Navigator window, <no view available> is displayed
4. Click index.php tab in the editor, Navigator gets populated
5. Click index.php in projects window and Navigator just shows Please Wait...
Comment 1 Tomasz Slota 2008-07-28 09:46:36 UTC
Could you please attach the IDE log? There was probably some exception in the background. I cannot reproduce it right now
Comment 2 Tomasz Slota 2008-07-28 10:42:45 UTC
OK, I could reproduce it now. After your steps everything seemed OK but then I selected the "Source Files" node and then index.php again and it was just
showing "Please Wait...". Reassigning to ppisl for further evaluation.

Comment 4 Petr Pisl 2008-07-28 17:07:51 UTC
I have found out that this is problem in GSF infrastructure or even more deep. The structure task is not called. It
looks like some events are not fired. I'm also able to reproduce in Ruby.

Comment 6 Torbjorn Norbye 2008-08-01 17:38:05 UTC
I just checked in a bunch of fixes in the GSF navigator area. (See issue 142078 for details and changeset pointers). One
of the things I fixed sound pretty similar to this bug - a lot of the problems in that area had to do with a race
condition between the "show please wait node" and the "show the navigator contents" code.

I tried reproducing the bug in this scenario but it seems to work for me. Can one of you confirm that it works for you
as well?
Comment 7 tonybeckham 2008-08-01 19:41:46 UTC
I will check when I update my build, later today or monday.
Comment 8 tonybeckham 2008-08-04 21:05:14 UTC
Still reproducible in:

Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200808021401)
Java: 1.5.0_13; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 1.5.0_13-119
System: Mac OS X version 10.5.4 running on i386; MacRoman; en_US (nb)
Comment 9 Torbjorn Norbye 2008-08-27 04:26:50 UTC
Fixed in changeset cbb028cdadd5.

Fix Verified

Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200808280201)
Java: 1.6.0_10-rc; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 11.0-b14
System: Linux version 2.6.24-21-generic running on i386; UTF-8; en_US (nb)
Comment 12 Martin Krauskopf 2009-02-02 14:36:54 UTC
'ruby/gsf -> editor/csl' mass-move to be able to deleted gsf/ruby. Having to
change the version and platform of all closed moved issues to the same due to
Issuezilla deficiencies - choosing version == 6.5 and TM = 7.0.
