There are times when it is not easy to figure out why some methods are not being called or why some methods are invoked more than once. The following are a sample of questions on the forum regrading this issue: http://www.nabble.com/Visual-Web%3A-page-bean-init%28%29-called-4-times-in-a-row-td18369445.html http://www.nabble.com/Re%3A--VWP--JSF-lyfecycle-and-prerender%28%29-td10625342.html#a10625342 http://www.nabble.com/VWP---Action-of-Hyperlink-inside-a-table-not-working-td10700101.html#a10729269 http://www.nabble.com/why-init-function-is-called-twice--tp17645556p17650059.html http://www.nabble.com/Visual-Web-can-I-skip-a-portion-of-init%28%29-code-on-postback--tp15552667p15560083.html The threads point to the following resources: http://developers.sun.com/jscreator/reference/techart/2/app_model.html?feed=DSC http://blogs.sun.com/dashboy/entry/java_studio_creator_lifecycle_q1 The above resources refer to creator product and may need to be updated for latest visual web pack.
The link http://developers.sun.com/jscreator/reference/techart/2/app_model.html?feed=DSC doesn't seem to work anymore.
Gee, I had mentioned awhile ago (to Support) that the Creator site was being EOL'd and the documentation needs to be migrated.
As Creator's End-of-Life was announced in February and began 22 August 2008, the main Creator page on developers.sun.com encourages folks to use NetBeans, rather than Creator. Note, these Creator-related technical articles and tutorials continue to be available online at the developers.sun.com site, eg, http://developers.sun.com/jscreator/archive/reference/techart/2/app_model.html
> these Creator-related technical articles and tutorials > continue to be available online The documents are indeed available in the archive section. It just needs to be verified whether the following documents also apply to visual web pack as is or if the documents need to be updated for vwp: http://developers.sun.com/jscreator/archive/reference/techart/2/app_model.html http://blogs.sun.com/dashboy/entry/java_studio_creator_lifecycle_q1
