Description Karthikeyan Rajeswaran 2008-07-12 19:32:12 UTC
Steps to reproduce:
- Visit the update center inspector at http://www.netbeans.info/uc/show_uc_content.html
- Check 'URL' checkbox and enter 'https://sqe.dev.java.net/' in the URL text box.
- Click 'Show Content' (or simply press Enter'
- A blank page with text 'Catalog URL: https://sqe.dev.java.net/ ' is displayed; the contents of the UC are not displayed.

Instead of sqe's UC URL, if the 'http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/6.1/uc/final/stable/catalog.xml' URL is
specified, then the contents are displayed correctly. The inspector would be useful if it can display the contents of
third party UCs too.

Have you tried to use the link to catalog :
https://sqe.dev.java.net/updatecenters/sqe/updates.xml
or just link to web :
https://sqe.dev.java.net/
?

If you are adding new/changing location of existing UC - you have to use link directly to catalog file.

You are right that it does not work if you check the "URL" option and provide DIRECT link [1]. Roberte, could you please
investigate why is it so? Thanks!

Direct links to standard URLs work fine. The problem is with encrypted links: https://
Direct connection is not supported by PHP on the server where the content inspector is hosted. Unless we move to other
server, this issue cannot be solved, because we don't control the server and can't change PHP setup.
