with linux (opensuse 11.0 KDE4) and Firefox 3, Netbeans is improperly configured.  

The setting in the "Arguments" box that works for me, after manually changing options, is this:

-new-tab "{URL}"

I googled and found others who had the same issue with Firefox not being opened from Netbeans, if it had been opened
before Netbeans was started.
