random and exception is harmless. In fact I cannot reproduce.

Oh, yes "harmless" ..., it came with patch 3 into NB6.1 and blocks the IDE so you must restart ... very "harmless" ...

Are you using a new build?
It is fixed in the NetBeans 6.5 builds later than Wed Aug 13 19:23:53 2008 .
If you have newer build please attach the messages.log
