Use New from the main menu twice in a row to create a regular class (Classes->Class). Both times choose some package, and enter a class name. Finish with mouse or Alt-F (without hitting next to go to the next page). You'll notice that it works the first time, but after the second time you end up with name Class instead of the one you specified.
FYI - I tried this with a Jar contents just to make sure that it was (only) a java problem and it works properly with a Jar contents template.
NFT does not work for Jar contents too. It looks like problem in openide. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 13586 ***
Jan, the issue you mention (13586) is a different problem! That may not work for jar contents either, but this is different. I'm not talking about the problem with the target package, I'm talking about the name of the created file. This happens for java, but not jar contents. I'm re-opening this issue since it describes a different symptom.
Fixed in dev
