The font of Chinese display is too big or too ugly, also the English words are the same.
But in the NetBeans6.0.1 ,that it's no problem.
My os is Windows xp SimpledChinese language.
Comment 6 Vitezslav Stejskal 2008-05-23 10:43:03 UTC
Hey guys, please I don't mean to be pesky, but could somebody please translate the summary to english and give us a
consistent description of the problem? Ideally, what the problem is and steps how it can be reproduced. Thank you

I am a Chinese, because my English is so-so, so I can't describe the issues clearly.
You can check the image URL below, and Compare to your NetBeans IDE ,and then you can find the problem,
that we want to show you!

Comment 13 Jiri Prox 2008-05-27 10:11:31 UTC
This problem seems to be more general
Comment 14 Lukas Hasik 2008-05-27 10:54:57 UTC
zhengbin1015, do you run IDE with --fonsize switch? What is your locale?
Comment 15 zhengbin1015 2008-05-28 03:38:16 UTC
--fonsize 12
Comment 16 Lukas Hasik 2008-05-28 10:44:42 UTC
the recommended fonsize for Chinese characters is 14. Could you try it with 14?
Do you use the same switch for both NBs - 6.0, 6.1 ?
Comment 17 Ken Frank 2008-05-28 15:41:36 UTC
zhengbin,

let me ask some questions to help us analyze:

1. is problem with fonts that its characters not all shown vertically
(up and down), but its ok horizontally (left-right) ?

2. you mention english words are the same - can you clarify ?
if its about translations being missing in 6.1, its that the translated
6.1 is still in progress and will be released in about 10 days.

3. is it a question of quality of the fonts seen, or is it, regardless of
fontsize used, that the characters don't all show ok horizontally ?

4. does it happen in other parts of ide than on tabs, as seen in attachments ?

5. if you resize the areas of the window, like making the area with the tabs
where problem is seen bigger/longer, does the problem still happen ?

I agree with jiriprox comment that it seems like it could be more general
problem since the english also is not all shown horizontally and thus
might not be an i18n issue; please remove I18N from summary if so.

Ken,

After short chatting with zhengbin by email, I will help him to answer your question

1. is problem with fonts that its characters not all shown vertically
(up and down), but its ok horizontally (left-right) ?
[Will]Correct.

2. you mention english words are the same - can you clarify ?
if its about translations being missing in 6.1, its that the translated
6.1 is still in progress and will be released in about 10 days.
[Will] En characters do not all shown vertically (up and down), but its ok horizontally (left-right)
It's not about missed translation and only display issue.

3. is it a question of quality of the fonts seen, or is it, regardless of
fontsize used, that the characters don't all show ok horizontally ?
[Will]It's a question of quality of the fonts seen.

4. does it happen in other parts of ide than on tabs, as seen in attachments ?
[Will]Yes. I will attach the screenshot.

5. if you resize the areas of the window, like making the area with the tabs
where problem is seen bigger/longer, does the problem still happen ?
[Will]It's useless that resizing the areas of the window, since it can't increase the height of the bar.

I agree with jiriprox comment that it seems like it could be more general
problem since the english also is not all shown horizontally and thus
might not be an i18n issue; please remove I18N from summary if so.

Will, thanks for communicating with zhengbin and providing the answers.
You changed this to enhancement; is it really not an issue since seems
to be a problem for the user, and the problem of not showing all vertically
might be more problem in asian languages ?

Comment 21 Rebecca Liu 2008-06-06 11:32:57 UTC
This problem only exists on Windows on 6.0/6.0.1/6.1. On Solaris/Linux/Mac it is ok. And the issue exists in all the
locales (en, ja, zh_CN or pt_BR...). And no matter which fontsize we use, the texts still cannot be fully shown at
"windows" title bar.

So it is on Windows platform only and locale/fontsize independent since nb6.0.
