Description clburchard 2008-04-08 19:26:49 UTC
Creating a Derby DB was easy under Netbeans 6.0, but, under Netbeans 6.1, I'm stumped.

The NB6.1 help file on Java DB gives the following instructions for registering a Java DB:

Choose Tools > Java DB Database > Java DB Settings from the main menu.

However, there is no "Java DB Database" menu under "Tools".

Further, under "Tools > Options > Advanced Options" there does not seems to be a way to register Derby as a database.

It has moved to a new neighborhood - see the Services tab under Databases - there is a "Java DB" node with all the
functionality you've come to know and love.

I know, it's documented (at least, I *think* it is - I'll check on that), but who reads the documentation... :)

Thanks much. However, the Java DB service was not under databases when I first installed NB 6.1. (Believe me ... I looed
at that window MANY times.) After getting your reply and reinstalling, ...., it's there.
Also, there is still the problem of the help pages being out of sync with the current (beta) release . . .

Yes, there was a bug where this node wasn't showing up, and which was recently fixed.

I have opened an issue for the docs folks to communicate that this has moved. Thanks for catching this.
