When you search for 'FilterEnumeration.java:79' on www.netbeans.org, you receive no results while this string occurs i.e. on page http://www.netbeans.org/www-nbdev/msg04846.html. Where is the problem?
Assigning to support.
Accepting. Internal CollabNet issue SC80.
Second Internal CollabNet issue PCN4713.
The mailing-list-archive search mechanism is going to be changing with the new inst (next week), so I am closing this issue wontfix.
Issue not fixed with new inst.
accepting for support.
The new URL: http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=77703&listName=nbdev
The report was about the search, not specifically where this msg is. Previously searching on this keyword did not turn up any hits whereas it is clearly in the archives. However Peter the search does now seem to work. Go to http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/SearchList?listName=nbdev&by=thread and search for FilterEnumeration in messagae bodies, you will find many hits. However a search for the full "FilterEnumeration.java:79" does not find anything, I guess this is something to do with how the search engine interprets ":" and "." ?
Thanks guys. Is there any way to search through messages containing given string when I open www.netbeans.org and enter string into Search field (on the left)? By now it seems to me search is divided to: 1) website content 2) discussions. Could these be joined?
I requested this in http://openide.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=9721 Failing that I will improve search links on site to make it clear that you need to do seperate searches.
Sorry about the lack of clarity. I entered the URL above in the process of further testing. This issue is not closed.
Moving this to P3 (not a regression).
Added a search page which makes it clear that searching twice (website content, and mailing list archives) is really necessary atm. Ideally these would be merged. See http://www.netbeans.org/search.html I will replace the current search box in the navbar with a link to this page.
The problem appears to be with non-alphanumeric characters in searches. Adjusting summary.

Status summary: this is an open issue which does not yet have a target milestone. Following up on this.
Our Issue Council reports that this has been scheduled tentatively for the SC1.2 release and has been sent to the tools group.
*** Issue 13913 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
This has been re-scheduled for the 1.3 release.
Administrative Change; SC1.3 has been renamed SC2.0.
I try to search for a subject related to "1.4" and it doesn't work. I don't know if it's the same bug but I mention this.
It's the same issue, the period is what is causing the trouble. The fix to address this issue looks to be on track for version 2.0 at this point.
Target milestone was changed from not determined to TBD
This has been assigned to Truckee1. During the upgrade to that release we can verify or reopen if necessary.
Updating WB.
Moving this to resolve remind Q.

Search Mailing List facility doesn't allow to search for non-ASCII symbols in the bodies of the messages. Even more complex... At least I tried searching nbdiscuss_fr: 1. "intéresse" returns 3 results, but doesn't return this page: http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?listName=nbdiscuss_fr&msgId=607331 2. "francisée" returns 0 results, nowever there's: http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?listName=nbdiscuss_fr&msgId=480699 But French people are not hopeless, not ALL of their words are not-ASCII (like in Russian). Try google - if you ask it for "intéresse", it returns pages with interesse, intéressé and Intéressé etc.
3mths and no update. The issue is over 4 years old. Searching by author fails if you use a "@".
Jack, The enhancement for consistent searchability across CEE is pushed back (rather considered) for Hudson. Although I see definitely some improvements in Danube, the core functionality of searchability with special characters may not be fully resolved. I wasn't sure about the "search by author". Please point me to a web-link/URL and I will try to test this in a Danube box.

Changing the status
Support is re-opening the issue to validate on the effort required in completing this in a future release. AFAIK, this seems to be huge effort. Does netbeans.org require this search since markmail.org is being used for searching archives?
You're right, after 7 years I guess users have been driven away by now. We'll attempt to mask CEE's broken list archives and search completely by using Markmail instead.
We recently moved out from Collabnet's infrastructure
