Description _ gtzabari 2001-06-22 20:23:28 UTC
There should be a way for users to manually manipulate (basic) Netbeans file
attributes. For example, when I mount a directory containing a JAR file, its
file attribute remains unknown (I don't know why it isn't being picked up as a
JAR file, but that's beside the point).

At this point and time I should be able to right-click on the JAR file,
properties -> expert -> file type = JAR Package

I'm not exactly clear what it is you're asking for. "File attribute"? And what
do you mean by "File Type"? NB does not currently recognize *.jar files as
anything special, only if accompanied by *.jarContents files, this is an
outstanding feature request for JAR Packager module, nothing to do with file
attributes that I know of.

Marking INVALID unless a clearer explanation is presented.

Well, the specific thing I was refering to was being able to take any
*.jar file and change its attribute such that it is recognized as being a
JAR file (without a *.jarContents file).

But the generic idea I was going for was being able to manipulate the
file-type (as recognized by Netbeans) for files under Explorer. One
example of this is TOOLS -> Mark as RMI.. We should be able to apply this
sort of functionality with other types/attributes of files (including
JAR).
