it's an apple jdk problem. when a top-level window (i.e. undocked view) is being dragged over desktop no AWT events are
fired. only when the dragging stops, one or two events are fired to notify the new mouse/window position.

the snapping actually does work, but one has to move the window *very* slowly and carefully to see it in effect:)

i'll file a bug against apple jdk
