Description teekaykid 2008-02-22 09:48:57 UTC
Hi,

I need some clarification on the function of the H:\.netbeans\5.5.1\var\cache (where H: is my network drive). I am a
network user in my organisation and have 250MB of network storage assigned to me. I discovered that I was running out
of space with about 105MB taken up by mystery files. A quick look revealed that it was a ".\netbeans" folder on my
drive that took up all that space. I can understand that my personal netbeans profile would be stored on my H: drive
so that my profile roams regardless of which computer I use on the network.

My main query is can I delete the H:\.netbeans\5.5.1\var\cache folder (or parent folders) as it appears to suggest that
it is a temporary folder? Also, what is the function of the H:\.netbeans\5.5.1\.uml hidden folder? Is it safe to
delete that as well? These folders account for the bulk of the 105MB.

Thanks.

Hi,

yes, you can delete H:\.netbeans\5.5.1\var\cache folder, it contains cached data that if needed would be recreated. It
is safe. As for the parent folders, if you delete them you risk that you would lost some of your custom settings.
I am not sure about H:\.netbeans\5.5.1\.uml hidden folder, but I guess it can be deleted as well, especially if you do
not work with the netbeans support for uml.
