Description ododos 2007-12-30 13:15:19 UTC
The "Look in:" drop down list of the open file dialog, as of NB6.0, has changed to show fewer items compared to NB5.5.1.
This forces you to do far more clicks than is necessary to select a file everywhere in NB.
Comment 1 Marian Petras 2008-01-08 07:02:55 UTC
The reporter apparently meant the strip on the left side of a file chooser where Windows icons "My Documents",
"Desktop", "Favorites", etc. are usually displayed.

If I recall correctly, it was removed due to the JDK bug causing long hangs if there are were large .zip files on the
desktop - tracked as NetBeans bug #109703 ("Netbeans 6.0 M10 FileChooser is too slow").

Reassigned to "core/ui".
Comment 2 David Simonek 2008-01-09 08:53:08 UTC
Yes, it's exactly as mpetras said, unfortunately we can't re-enable "Look in:" icon list until JDK bug is fixed.
Comment 3 ododos 2008-01-10 09:43:53 UTC
Just to clarify things, I did not mean the strip on the left side of the file chooser, but the "Look in:" combobox,
which apparently is also affected by the issue mentioned in bug #109703. Therefore I also agree in the RESOLVED WONTFIX
status.
