In the section Debugging a Program > Examining Threads there is said
that Thread pane displays "The placement of the method on the call stack".
This sentence is probably about Stack Depth property of the Thread.
So, the sentence should be something like "The depth of the stack
of the thread."

This help page now explains the Stack Depth property as "the depth of
the stack of the thread."  The correction has been committed to the
Netbeans
3.2 repository and will be merged into a Pilsen build in the near
future.

Verified in Netbeans build 20011012.
