When I try to start the NetBeans 5.0, I receive a message that java.land.NullPointerException exception has occured and

Looking into your messages.log I can see quite many exceptions - which JDK are you using? Have you tried to open NB 
with clean userdir (netbeans.exe --userdir some_empty_directory)? I guess it should help, please let me know if not.
Or could you please try it with NB 6.0 with clean userdir? But be sure to create backup of your projects first please.
