Description karmagfa 2007-10-03 06:21:08 UTC
For now, in the Upate Center, the user can only see the *total size* of the modules whose checkbox is checked.
Nothing on the screen let the user know what is the size of a *single* module.

Could it be possible to add it as a field at the beginning of its description?

It's not in our plans for a long time because performance regression caused counting download sizes. IMHO I should close
as WONTFIX.

hi,

I am not aware of the performance issues, but I was naively thinking that since the IDE already compute the sum of the
sizes of the selected modules it would not be a performance issue to simply have it displayed for each selected module,
either in an additional column, either in the currently displayed module description. Will the total download size be
removed?

Pardon me, I don't really get the meaning of "because performance regression caused counting download sizes", can you
reformulate, please?

Well. Each plugin has several hidden module which have to installed together. It means user choose a plugin, Autoupdate
has to inspect all hidden module and find out if are installed or not and in which version. This takes some time (and
that's reason why it's counted asynchronously in another thread). If I should show size for each plugin in the list,
need to calculate for each one and it would make Plugin Manager less responsible I guess.
