This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
Steps to reproduce: 1. Run IDE 2. Add additional path (containing compiler collection) to Build Tools Current Path list. Set newly added compiler collection ad a default. 3. Close IDE. 4. Open with the same userdir -> you cannot see compiler collection created on the step2 of your previous IDE run and Current Path list doesn't contain path added. Let's make Current Path persistent and keep information in userdir.
I think it would be reasonable to keep path in userdir and always take it from there. That would make IDE more stable (not depending on console it's run from etc). The PATH environment variable can be used while the first run of IDE (with a fresh userdir) or can be imported to IDE (reset to default path) via Tools->Options->C/C++ window.

This has been fixed as part of the tool chain setup rewrite in 6.1. New tool sets can be created and added to the list of available sets. New sets are specified by their base directory, name, and their type (GNU, Sun, ...) and the PATH is no longer used when adding new sets. All settings are persistent.
