This was a very useful feature: if I just wanted to quickly try something, I could highlight the block, press that button, and be done with it. Now, it seems like the only way to do the same thing is to use some keyboard shortcut - and some of us are more visual oriented and can't remember keystroke combinations too well :-) So please reinstate this feature. tom
Actually I cannot use any shortcut to access this feature! The menu items are disabled as well.
When I wrote the issue, I saw the ability to assign keystroke to these actions via the key mapping (look under "Source") - but I just tried that and even though it lets me assign keystrokes to the "Comment" and "Uncomment" actions, nothing happens when I actually try it :-(
Using build 200708011200, default "NetBeans" keymap in use, I used the mouse to select some lines of text, then did "Ctrl-/" and those lines were commented. I tried the "Ctrl-Shift-D" as shown in the keymap options but that brought up some uml thing in the navigator area, and did not uncomment. I tried "Ctrl-/" again and it removed the comments. Since there is View>Toolbars>Customize..., it seems it should only be a question of making the actions available in the customize dialog. Curiously, in the main toolbar's Source menu, the comment and uncomment are disabled even when text is selected. Looks like there are a variety of interrelated things to sort out.
This is probably a duplicate of issue 111184. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 111184 ***
Reopen, this is a different problem that issue 111184 (now closed) to which it was dup'd. There is also Issue 112032 which may or may not be the same issue at this one. Getting comment/uncomment to be a "proper" action that can be customized to the toolbar and moved through keymap bindings.
*** Issue 112362 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
I also think this feature is needed unless there is no space in the editor toolbar
Reassigning to Hrebejk.
They are back.
There is must be a coding error. Once I was working on my college project and over there I experienced exactly this error. I took help with https://www.courseworkonline.co.uk after trying for so long. I got some tips about it too.
