1. Create a web project, index.jsp will be opened in the editor 2. Modify index.jsp (do not save) 3. Open WEB-INF/web.xml in the editor, switch to XML tab 4. Modify web.xml (do not save) 5. Create a java file J1, J1.java will be opened in the editor 6. Press the "last edit" (back arrow) button in the editor toolbar to go back to web.xml 7. Press the "last edit" (back arrow) button in the editor toolbar to go back to index.jsp => The back arrow in not on the same position in J1.java as in web.xml, so I have to move the mouse between the two actions (step 6 and 7). This breaks the workflow and is a usability bug.
Passing to Milos.
yes, obviously when there are more additional buttons on the left, then the back button cannot be on the same position. To do it otherwise requires a complete rewrite of the UI spec for multiviews. -> closing as wontfix. feel free to reassign to a HIE team member who eventually rewrites the spec.
Based on the conversation with Milos, he does not consider this to be a usability problem. I could be the only one who finds the usability of this UI bad, but I would be interested to know what others think.
There is also the problem that the buttons for switching views are in the toolbar. I'm attaching a screenshot, where even I'm not able to see all buttons in the toolbar. This is really a ui bug.
Created attachment 44198 [details] The sceenshot, where all buttons in toolbar are not displayed
ppisl: agree, that's a bug, however a different one. The solution is written in the original spec (http://ui.netbeans.org/docs/ui/switchers/index.html - Figure 11) but was never implemented. I'd prefer you file a separate issue and we close this one. Thanks.
