Seems like a re-occurrance of https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=209468, which sounds like a lot of people encountered in the past.  I haven't tried all the work-arounds yet and will try those and report back if I can fix.  THank you.

I get this in Netbeans 8.0.2.  When you close all files in the editor pane it will maximize the output's pane.  It will sometimes open files in the output's pane.  I've not notice a pattern of when it does this.  Product info:
