Description antonx 2010-11-22 08:27:47 UTC
Product Version = NetBeans IDE 7.0 Beta (Build 201011152355)
Operating System = Linux version 2.6.34.7-0.5-default running on amd64
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.6.0_22
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 17.1-b03

I tried to install the following plugins:

 - python
 - jython
 - and the samples

The download works, than the ide wants to restart, until now all is fine.

But when the ide restarts the installation progress hangs, I see the progress
bar moving very very slow, and after five minutes it reaches 10%.

... so I kill netbeans.

In netbeans 6.9.1 the installation works.

Product Version: NetBeans IDE 7.0 Beta (Build 201011152355)
Java: 1.6.0_20; OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM 19.0-b09
System: Linux version 2.6.35-25-generic running on amd64; UTF-8; en_US (nb)

OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.9.5) (6b20-1.9.5-0ubuntu1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode)
(running inside a virtualbox VM win7 x64 host, xubuntu 10.10 x64 guest on an i7-2600, 3 cores and 8 gig RAM to VM)

I have encountered this also. It seems that something in the Jython install hangs that is blocking everything else. I can select to install the Jython Distribution only, and I get no where after the download, never goes beyond 0% install after 10 minutes, top shows constant 1-2% usage of 3 CPUs for the java process, no abnormal memory usage.

I can killall java, but Netbeans 7 still keeps coming up, alternating between starting the IDE and updating it (installing Jython).

You can close this issue.

I do not use netbeans for python coding anymore,
I switched to

 eclipse + pydev

which is actively developed (and where the debugging works)

Current instructions for installation of Python Support on NetBeans IDE can be found at: http://wiki.netbeans.org/PythonInstall

This is a community-supported project, endeavoring to return Python support to NetBeans. For more, see https://netbeans.org/projects/python/pages/Home
