I'm using a new MacBook pro with snow leopard (10.6.4), a fresh install of basic netbeans with java SE and the C/C++ plugin installed. If I add the python plugin, when I close netbeans the updater does its work and restarts the IDE. The problem is that this cycle seems infinite, i.e. I can't close netbeans without the updater coming up again and restarting the IDE. I have to kill the process (two java instances) via shell. I had the exact same issue with my previous computer, a MacBook running the latest non-snow leopard, and that prompted me to switch to eclipse :(
I'm sorry you had difficulties. While we are still experiencing exceptions, the issue you described has been fixed. Current instructions for installation of Python Support on NetBeans IDE can be found at: http://wiki.netbeans.org/PythonInstall This is now a community-supported project, endeavoring to return Python support to NetBeans.
